The wise oak, King of trees, that stand watching generations come and go, a true source of ancient knowledge and power. Hardly surprising then that the Druids honoured this tree, often performing rituals under their lofty boughs. The oak is one of the sacred trees of the ancients, in the druid tradition, oak is tied to that same ancient symbol of the druid possessing strength, knowledge, and wisdom. The name of the Druids (those who hold knowledge) stem from the term Duir, Dryads are the spirits that inhabit the Oak and those who pass inspiration and knowledge to the Druids.

Topical applications when made into an oil infusion or when soaked in warm water and applied as a poultice, is thought to suppress inflammation and soothe itchy skin, in particular, tannins in oak bark have been shown to inhibit the release of inflammatory compounds which may also exhibit antibacterial properties by binding with proteins involved in bacterial growth. Oak bark tea is used to help treat diarrhoea, the common cold, sore throat, bronchitis, loss of appetite and arthritis. A variety of naturally occurring compounds in oak bark, especially tannins, are thought to be responsible for its claimed medicinal properties. 

Magickally, oak bark can be brewed into a tea and then added to a bath to remove jinxes/hexes/curses. It is protective in nature and can be used in protective spells
