Neem is a natural herb that comes from the neem tree, other names for which include Azadirachta indica and Indian lilac. Neem is used in an Ayurvedic practices to treat asthma, coughs, digestive issues, gum disease, skin conditions and UTIs. Use as a bath tea for hair and skin conditions, or as a mouthwash for dental hygiene.
Lore surrounding Neem portrays the demon-slaying Goddess Kali/Durga (to whom it is sacred) sometimes depicted wielding a Neem leaf instead of a knife, with which she attacks the demons of disease. Legend has it that the tree received its healing powers when the divine bird 'Garuda' accidentally spilt a few drops of Amrita, the nectar of immortality, while carrying this precious liquid to the heavens, whereby some drops happened to fall on the Neem tree.
Magickally and probably unsurprisingly, it can be used as a warding herb against illness and as protection from negative energies. Create poppets, stuff spell jars, surround spell candles, add to baths for this purpose.
There isn’t an awful bunch of information about assigning the attributes, but with its healing and protective properties I have kind of popped my own ideas below, but of course you may find it possesses other aspects and to form your own view.
