Ah the witches fave! Mugwort is one of the popular herbs in a witch’s pantry, said to increase psychic ability and so aids divination, scrying and clairvoyance. In modern witchcraft it is used as a visionary herb aiding psychic vision and inducing prophetic dreaming, so smoking with this in a bend may lend itself to your crafting.
A feminine herb of the Goddess in Crone form, is associated with wisdom, observation and truth. Mugwort is a member of the genus Artemisia, a group of plants named for the Greek Goddess of the moon (Artemis). Also associated with Hecate and Diana. Ruled by either Taurus or Libra depending on which texts you read. Whilst some say it is associated too with Venus and of course the Moon. Use in magickal workings when working with these deities or moon phase.
Use as an incense for divinatory or purifying work, when smoked is said to aid projection, lucid dreaming and higher states of consciousness.
Some say that simply keeping mugwort under your pillow or in your bedroom will encourage prophetic dreams. (It is a member of the ragwort family so be mindful of you have allergies!). As long as you are NOT pregnant a tea made with this herb will encourage lucid dreams. The tea can also be used to cleanse your divination or ritual tools.
A protective sachet of mugwort hung over your door is said to prevent unwanted energies from entering. The sachets are also used for travel to prevent any usual annoyances such as delays and accidents.
