I think we all know this one….Vicks anyone?? The highly scented and sometimes eye-wateringly so, clears away stuffy noses and headaches…but did you know in Portugal the leaves are burnt as smokey embers to rid mosquitoes??? Portuguese tend to go into the mountains and pick a few bunches and when they have finished cooking outdoors, place the branches on the embers to reduce the number of mozzies as the night draws a little cooler. I personally cant fault this one….the flying blood suckers love me!!
It isn’t as pungent in its dry state, but it’s scent comes alive again when burnt, boiled or added to oils. As a herb of protection, you can boil a small amount in a small saucepan of water to create your own protection and purifying spray for the home. Once the leaves have steeped for a bit and allowed to cool, add to a spray bottle and spritz around entry points or in rooms you feel needs it.
You an also use in spells of protection, it has a gentler approach than some other herbs…which can sometimes remove all energies from spaces, but eucalyptus offer protection from milder annoyances that impact on a regular basis.
Eucalyptus is often used in healing magick, whether that be yourself or someone else, add to incenses, healing poppets or sachets. Ring blue candles with eucalyptus and burn to bring yourself some healing vibrations
