These base carrier oils have been sourced from a reputable supplier, based upon quality and sustainability directly from their sources all over the world. Used for diluting essential oils for use in massage, homemade lotions/creams and skin regimes. Make your own blends and beauty products using these wonderfully rich oils.

Each type of oil will have different qualities regarding skin care, for example Neem is great for eczema (helping also to reduce infection) although the smell takes a bit of getting used to! Have a look through your books to find the best one to suit your needs. Some great homemade balms and salves can be made using these oils alongside Shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax and the like; great for you crafty folk to make up your wonders! You could also try adding some of the dried herbs on this site to make herbal oil infusions! I have popped some very basic attributes below, so you may be able to decide which one may be best for your skin or what you intend to use it for. For more information I recommend to look online or in your aromatherapy books for further clarification and uses 😊.

Calendula oil: Has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that might make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema and relieving nappy rash. It’s also used as an antiseptic and may be beneficial for minor skin wounds or conditions. Skin hydration is important for the drier skin conditions, so calendula oil may be used to hydrate, firm the skin and improve appearance. 

Jojoba Oil: 

Many people use jojoba oil as part of their skin care routine with good reasons. It is an excellent moisturiser, being very similar to the body's natural sebum; noncomodegenic, meaning it will not block pores and is a humectant, providing a protective barrier to prevent moisture loss without being over greasy. Contains Vitamin E which is a brilliant antioxidant, plus with collagen boosting benefits evens the skin tone and assists in reduce scarring such as for wounds and acne. Classed as hypoallergenic, meaning skin reactions are quite rare.

Rosehip OilRosehip oil contains Vitamins C, A & F, contains essential fatty acids. Rosehips have been used for centuries, as far back as the days of Hippocrates. Vitamin C may help reduce ultraviolet light damage caused by free radicals, supports collagen production which helps reduce wrinkling (making it the oil of youth), may increase wound healing and help prevent dry skin. Used in massage blends it may assist with reducing inflammation and pain caused by arthritic conditions. 

Avocado Oil:  Avocado oil is rich in fatty acids and nutrients that may benefit your skin. Vitamins A, E are linked to skin membrane health, with a small study showing benefits for plaque psoriasis. Being rich in these fatty acids and vitamins it has a range of uses such as; calming irritated or chapped skin, locks in moisture for dry skin conditions, shield and protect skin from UV damage. 

Hazelnut Oil: Loaded with skin-nourishing vitamins and essential fatty acids, this oil may help protect skin against sun damage, boost collagen production, hydrate and cleanse. Tannins within this oil possess antioxidant properties, acting as an astringent which may help dry out oilier skins, remove bacteria and shrink enlarged pores when used as a general cleansing oil (create a blend with a little tea tree oil and pop a small amount on a cotton wool pad and wipe over the face avoiding the eye area). Fatty acids within this oil could help reduce the effects of sun damage (photoaging) that causes fine lines and wrinkles.

Grapeseed Oil: Is one of the most commonly used base oils, it penetrates quickly, which doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily but instead super nourished and moisturised. Grapeseed oil doesn’t clog pores, so ideal for all skin types including oily skin that needs moisturising. High in Omega oils, it’s use has a wide range of applications including moisturising, acne healing, lighten skin tone, tighten pores, reduce scarring and removes make up!

Apricot Kernel Oil: Another well known oil in skin care for softening, nourishing, protecting, hydrating, improving radiance, smooths skin texture, assists in improving fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes. So the whole shabang! It is a great anti-inflammatory and light enough moisturising acne or rosacea prone skin. Older skins benefit from the nourishing and glowy benefits that help to reduce those fine lines and wrinkles.

Peach Kernel Oil: A light weight, easily absorbed oil that protects dry, sensitive and mature skins- as a low comodogenic oil, it is useful for oily skin types too! For super supple skin use as a moisturiser or massage oil. Packed with Omega fatty acids it locks in moisture and keeps skin looking healthy. Team with a little clary sage oil for clarifying the skin, especially useful for hydration of oily skin types as it doesn’t block pores and astringent clary sage helps to balance and calm the skin.

Wheatgerm Oil: This oil is packed full of antioxidant benefits that assists in managing dryness, skin inflammation, dark spots and scars. Vitamins A & D plus the fatty acids found in the oil helps improve appearance of broken, scarred or dry skin by evening the skin tone. For healing cracked skin; such as heels, add a little frankincense oil for extra nourishing benefits. 

Vitamin E Oil: Potential benefits of this oil include antioxidative properties (inflammation fighting & slow effects of free radicals) and moisturising. Great for itchy dry skin or flaking associated with skin conditions like eczema, mild psoriasis or atopic dermatitis. It is often used to stabilise oil, salve or balm blends. For keeping your nails and cuticles healthy massage this oil in everyday. 

Neem Oil: An Ayurvedic oil from the Indian sub-continent, it has been used for many a year for various skin conditions. In its neat state, it is quite potent (and yes, a little pongy which kinda needs getting used to!) but can be used to treat acne and fungal infection:

1) Lightly dab neat Neem oil to the affected area with a cotton bud or cotton pad and allow to soak in for 20mins.

2) Wash the area with warm water

3) Use daily until results are achieved.

Other uses include the symptomatic treatment of psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, scarring (it boosts collagen production) - I would recommend it be diluted slightly with a little other carrier oil suitable for your needs, especially on more sensitive skins as it is quite potent. As the smell is quite strong, try mixing with a little essential oil, such as lavender for calming reddened or inflamed areas, tea tree or clary sage for antibacterial/ clarifying spotty areas. For larger areas you can add a smidge to your bath.

Sweet Almond Oil: Almond oil is full of vitamin E, and it’s a source of magnesium, phosphorus, and copper. This antioxidant-rich oil is known for its free radical fighting and anti-inflammatory abilities. Almond oil has been used for centuries to soothe the skin and treat minor wounds and cuts. It has been used in ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic practices to treat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, as an emollient it’s helps balance moisture absorption vs moisture loss. With its Vitamin E, assists with healing sun damage, reduces scars, evens skin tone and signs of aging. As an antibacterial and also being packed full of Vitamin A can be used as a carrier for acne prone skin.

Evening Primrose Oil: Normally found in capsule form as an oral supplement, the high levels of GLA ( gamma-linolenic acid); which is an Omega 6 fatty acid, this oil benefits the support of tissues, reducing redness, inflammation and provides moisturisation. Such as the case for assisting with the treatment of acne and angular chilitis. For eczema or dry skin conditions it supports the epidermis, provides a barrier against moisture loss and provides suppleness to tightened skin. 

Hempseed Oil: High in fatty acids, this oil is useful for drier skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and cradle cap. Used to strengthen skin and reduces risk of infections. A natural anti-inflammatory, it can be useful for inflamed skin conditions for things like acne, by balancing and regulating the skin's oil production. Over-dryness can lead to the skin to over-produce oil, which exacerbates acne, so when used sparingly, may alleviate acne conditions.

ABOUT:

Each is supplied in either a 100ml or 50ml dark glass bottles to maintain quality and all oils are 100% natural. Each one is labelled with the source and how it was extracted. As with all essential or base oils ensure you patch test first. Be mindful if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, such as nuts or certain flowers for example, as these contain nut oils such as sweet almond, hazelnut or are distilled from such flowers like the Asteraceae/Compositae family etc. Please also bear in mind that during transport and storage at the suppliers, these oils may have been kept or transported together near nut oils. Also due to lipid content in some oils, during transit they may get cold - often going to depots without proper heating which may cause them to solidify. This is normal and once at room temperature again will convert back to their normal state. Always check whether they are safe to use during pregnancy & breast feeding.
